"My son-in-law, Matthew Marshall, was my model here. I use him often as he makes a great cowboy. (And he is a great rider-- he's the type that just suddenly vaults into the saddle--one moment he's just standing by the horse-- and the next moment he just literally leaps or swings up... It looks so casual and easy... However, I have my doubts.)
I used this painting as the cover to my recent book of paintings and poetry and liked it so well I just named the book 'Christ and the Cowboy'."
